Artist Comments

For a couple of years, right after Labor Day, I would make my way to Corn Hill in Truro, MA and stay in one of the cottages at the top of the hill overlooking Cape Cod bay. Most mornings I would go off and wander, gathering images and chasing early morning or late afternoon light before dusk. "After Labor Day" captures the warmth of Indian Summer on a shingled cottage above the cool dampness of the passageway below.

Years ago, Edward Hopper and his wife spent many summers in a cottage near Corn Hill. He once stated, "All I really want to do is paint light on the side of a house."
